Made a very interesting finding today - at the bottom of the cleft you can see the same plant as in Kemo and Delin! But here you can see the green leaves growing in several layers on top of each other, and no "flowers" which we can see on the plants in both Kemo and Delin.
So we can call the whitish plant in Delin "Penflower", the coloured one in Kemo "Rainbowflower" (since it have the most bright colours I've seen on any plant so far) and this one here "Duckfoot". Or we have to come out with a name that is the same for all three of them?

That’s a really good find rebus, I’d noticed them before, but I’d never made the connection.
However, I’m still adamant that those ‘flowers’ aren’t even flowers. I’ve got a picture somewhere that more or less proves that it’s just another type of plant.
Wouldn’t you say that this backs that idea up to a degree?
EDIT: i've done a little research and i think in the past this plant has been called the Cleft Cabbage. Not that it is, but just a thought. _________________

Yes, I agree with you there Slightperil, now that I've seen that "Cleft Cabbage" I vote for that name!
/Edit: Maybe it's a suckulent? Looks a bit like that, I think.

I don't think the plants all need the same name, since there are obvious morphological differences among the species. The leaves/petals of the rainbow flower, for example, are more rounded at the ends than the leaves/petals of the penflower.
The cleft cabbage certainly isn't a flower, but the rainbow flower and penflower look like flowering plants to me. However, I'm not very up on botany. What is your reasoning, slightperil? _________________ *SLMW 1.0* No animals were harmed in the production of this message. |

So now we have the cleft cabbage and this plant
which I call "sword plant"- I don't know its real name,
but I've seen it as an indoor potplant - growing at the
bottom of the cleft. Along with the ephemerals in the rainy cleft.
Anyone recognize this plant? EDIT/ after a bit of research I found it most likely to be a dracaena

I'm not so sure about it being a dracenea as they tend to LOVE sunlight (and lots of it). Although, maybe in a desert they wouldn't be as likely to be out in the sun? I'm not sure. Just a small factoid I thought I'd bring up. |

Just love your little factoids, Quaxo! You bring them up in the most charming way!
I know most dracaena thrives in sunshine, but since we have a lot of species indoors as potplants, they can survive pretty well in "shadow" and a temperature of 18 -20 degrees Celsius. Only they don't bloom often. And since the cleft is located in mexico there must be several hours a day when the sun "hits" them, wouldn't you think? |

Heh. Well, I'm glad you find them charming.
As for the sunlight question - it looked like the rocks in the background were very mossy, so I didn't think that area got much light. However, it must still get some or the moss wouldn't be green, now would it? Hmmm. Interesting. |

Actually, it looks as if the same plants from the Cleft are part of a new relto page. _________________ <PSA> Friends Don't Let Friends Link Drunk. </PSA> |

But I'm sure it's eatable, 'cause Anna would surely keep some plants around here that she could use in sallads and so on. Maybe it tastes like cabbage ? Or referring to the leaves of the plant. We know she knew a lot about herbs and probably all plants that she could use in cooking.
It would be nice if we can put that as a possibility in wiki! |

I suggest "Sword Plant" for this. The leafes looks just like a swords blade. It also looks like a tie, but I don't think that would be a proper name
If someone have another suggestion, please post!
