Ground control to ... anyone?

I wander the halls of the society's rooms, my footsteps echoing in the empty meeting areas and labs. My burdens are heavy - both of mind and body.

"Hello? Is anyone here?"

I set down my new dissecting scope alongside my smaller compound on an abandoned desk. While there's no one else here, I may as well claim my old spot. I dust off the top with my sleeve and poke through a few drawers before my eyes go back to glancing around the empty corners. I remember when this whole place was so full of conversation that another word - let alone person - could barely fit in. Yet somehow, we did fit them in. It makes me smile.

I go in search of cleaning equipment - I plan on welcoming my explorer friends home.
