Teledahn

Comments: Teledahn

Teledahn is home to a wide variety of wildlife. While maps of the age suggest a wide variety of environments and some frightening creatures, the only habitat currently open to explorers is swamp-like and filled with giant mushrooms. Note that the DRC have been unable to locate D'ni resources with the original names of the creatures of the age, so the names used here are taken from the notebook of Douglas Sharper, the DRC member once placed in charge of the age's restoration.

The D'ni used to harvest the Shrooms spores to make a kind of bread.

There is also evidence that an ecological change (more than likely the elimination of Flappers) caused the Age to reduce the output of spores, which prompted the Age's eventual sale to a (then unknown) slaver. Information in regards to these methods or the status of the other harvesting/purifying sites have not been followed, but will be in future updates.

The DRC project status page states that there is a second area to this Age, but apparently has been suspended for the foreseeable future. Where this area is located and the reasons for the suspension are currently unknown.

[edit] Ecological Assessment/Usage Projects

We are investigating the water column to get a better idea what sort of underwater ecosystem this Age presents us. Initial assessments appear to indicate that the water below 200ft is entirely without oxygen but with a good amount of anaerobic bacteria and life.

We are also investigating the nutrient content of the water for potential use as fertilizer in other Ages as indications are that water throughout the water column are rich in nutrients. Per DRC requirements, we are attempting to sterilize samples prior to beginning our growth tests but the Guild of Engineers are still establishing inventory controls over reagents and equipment.
